Just like the original versions, both the Mako II and Ray II are water resistant up to 200 meters, with a screwed-down crown and a day and date window. Unlike the previous iteration in the line though, the new Mako II and Ray II only boast one crown. That's thanks to the new movement. One crown instead of two gives the watches a more sophisticated look in our opinion, and it's also one less possible thing to worry about breaking.
According to a prepared statement we received from the president of Orient Watch USA Mark Kim, “The new Mako and Ray II look similar to the original models, but have been upgraded significantly under the hood. The arrival of this advanced mechanical movement is yet another milestone in Orient’s rich 65 year history of being an in-house watch manufacturer.”
The best part about the new Orient Watch Mako II and Ray II? Their low price points of $325 and $335, making them reasonable to everyone. There's also a version of the Ray II with a rubber strap at $305.
