LucidSound recently launched their new LS30 universal wireless gaming headset. One glance at it, and you'll immediately notice that the LS30 looks unlike any other gaming headset you've ever seen. We caught up with LucidSound's public relations director Alex Verrey during Pax East, and he told us what makes the LS30 the best wireless gaming headset currently available on the market.

Who's the talent behind Lucid Sound?
The entire company at Lucid sound is made up from the elite gaming audio industry. Chris was the founder of Tritton Audio, and I was the PR manager of Mad Catz. We've also got people from Turtle Beach, along with other audio companies too. We've all come together to make a better gaming headset than anything else currently out there.

This doesn't look like a gaming headset. This looks like something one could wear everyday.
That's exactly what we want to do. Gaming has moved on and gamers have moved on. We don't want our headsets to look like rejects from the set of an 80's movie anymore. We don't want to look like we walked straight out of The Jetsons, and we don't want to look like any other gaming headset. But it's still loaded with all of the technology that gamers need.

You've got several high profile audio companies trying to break into the gaming market, but they don't understand what gamers need. So they haven't got it quite right. Whereas gaming companies tend to make headsets that look like a kid's toy: Flashing lights and dials everywhere. We wanted to make a beautiful lifestyle headset, one that you don't feel embarrassed wearing out in public, on your daily commute, out at the beach, or wherever life takes you.

Can you tell us how it works?|

With the included detachable cable attached, it's functions just like normal audio headset with your phone or MP3 player. There's a hidden microphone to take calls. When it comes to gaming, you're going to take that cable off. It uses a custom 2.4 GHz. We've purposely not gone down the Bluetooth route, as we don't believe it delivers the best audio. We have a proprietary USB dongle that you'll plug into your PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Xbox 360, or PlayStation 3. We're taking the uncompressed audio and beaming it to the headset. It's better than Bluetooth, there's less lag and its crystal clear.

On the ear-cup, there's a little dial for the volume. If you want to mute the headset just tap the side. Tap it again to turn it on. On the other side there's another dial for chat volume. Tap that side to mute as well. We have a powerful Lithium Ion battery that delivers 15 hours of non-stop use. It charges via micro USB in under two hours. There's also a small EQ button that will allow you to choose between three equalizers: Flat audio, treble, and bass boost.

You're using your own exclusive technology?
We used our own proprietary drivers. Unlike other companies, we aren't using off the shelf drivers. We have our own 50mm drivers. All of our wireless tech is proprietary too. We have our own experts with over 20 years collectively of audio experience, and they've come up with some innovative solutions that deliver a higher quality experience than what any of our competitors have to offer.
